The Space Heater Swap That Fixed My Sleep This Fall

Last week I finally made one change to my nighttime setup, and I can't believe I waited this long to do it.

I kept blaming the dry air for how I felt every morning. It was actually everything plugged in next to my bed.

WHAT I CHANGED

So once it started getting cold, I did what everyone does, I closed the windows and turned on my space heater every night. What I didn't think about until recently was how much that changes the air I'm actually breathing for 7+ hours straight, plus the fact that my heater was basically sitting right next to my head on the nightstand. I moved it to the far wall, plugged in my Medify Air purifier (this is the one I've had for months and actually notice a difference with, code ANCESTRALFERTILITY15 takes a bit off if you wanna try it), and swapped my phone for a faraday case at night instead of just leaving it charging next to my pillow.

I also added a BON CHARGE blue light blocking lamp on my nightstand so I'm not staring at my phone screen right before bed either. The part I didn't expect? I stopped waking up with that dry, stuffy feeling I always blamed on "just being cold season."

WHY IT ACTUALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE

It comes down to two things stacking on top of each other once it's cold. First, closed windows mean way less air exchange, so dust, off-gassing from synthetic bedding, and whatever's floating around just sits there and recirculates all night.

Second, EMF exposure goes up in fall without anyone realizing it, more space heaters, more electric blankets, more devices charging right next to the bed since everyone's staying in their room longer. Neither one is dramatic on its own, but stacked together for 7+ hours a night, every night, for months, it adds up more than people think.

HOW TO COZY UP YOUR OWN SPACE

  • Move your space heater at least a few feet from your bed, ideally on the opposite wall.

  • Get your phone into a faraday case at night instead of leaving it charging next to your pillow.

  • Run an air purifier at night once your windows start staying shut.

  • Swap your regular nightstand lamp for a blue light blocking one if you're on your phone before bed.

A FEW THINGS I'D TELL YOU FIRST

You don't need to buy everything at once, start with moving what you already own, that's free and takes five minutes. The purifier and faraday case are the two purchases I'd actually prioritize if you're starting from scratch, the lamp is more of a nice-to-have once the basics are covered.

If this kind of thing is up your alley, I put together a FREE (seriously, go check!) guide on Shielding Products That Actually Work since so much of what's marketed as "EMF protection" is just fear-based noise with a price tag. I've also written about EMF blocking scams and supporting the body naturally if you want the deeper why behind all of it.

Thanks for being here, friends!
